White Wine Sarris Ungrafted Vines of Robola of Kefalonia Panochori 2021. No need to decant. Sarris Winery is a family winery founded in 2017 by Panos Sarris. The winery located in Svoronata, southwest of the island of Kefalonia, produces splendid natural wines from terraced vineyards situated about 700 m above sea level. The altitude and the beneficial effect of the sea breeze produce very aromatic wines, with a surprising freshness and minerality with a Mediterranean character. The Sarris Ungrafted Vines of Robola of Kefalonia Panochori is a natural white wine produced with Robola grapes, a variety widespread in Italy, Slovenia and other Greek islands and recognized worldwide as one of the most prized white varieties. The grapes come from a low-yield vineyard, planted in 1981 and located in the village of Panochori. Here the soil is calcareous, with gravel and well-drained, and the vineyards enjoy the sea breeze from the coast. The wine shows a clear, bright yellow color. The aromatic profile is intense, elegant and fresh with delicate aromas, fruity hints of tropical fruit, lemon, grapefruit, peach and white flowers. The wine has excellent minerality, balanced acidity, a long aftertaste, and a slight sapidity. Perfect with fish, especially a typical island dish, cod fried in batter.

White Wine Skouras Almyra Chardonnay 2021. No need to decant. Domaine Skouras was founded in 1986 in Pyrgela, southern Greece, by oenologist George Skouras, a graduate of Dijon. He was the first winemaker in Greece to assemble the native Aghiorghitiko grape (also called San Giorgio) with Cabernet Sauvignon, obtaining excellent results with the Megan Oenos wine. Today Domaine Skouras produces prestigious wines both from their own vineyards and from local producers. The grapes for this wine (95% Chardonnay and 5% Malagousia) come from vines between 14 and 27, planted on sandy soils in Corinthia and Argolida. The vinification takes place separately. The Chardonnay is left to macerate on the skins for 6 hours and then fermented partly in steel and partly in barriques. Malagousia macerates for 24 hours, fermented in stainless steel vats, and then aged ‘sur lie’ for six months. The final blend was aged in the bottle for three months. From the heart of the Greek Peloponnese, this Chardonnay, with the slight addition of the indigenous Malagousia grape, is a highly refreshing wine. On the nose, the citrus, tropical and floral notes create a fantastic bouquet. The alcohol is perfectly balanced and adds depth to the wine. The acidity leaves the palate clean and fresh. The wine is round with a good concentration of fruit and a pleasant aromatic character. It’s a perfect match for sea bream, lobster, or chicken served with a creamy sauce. It pairs well also with vegetarian tarts.

White Wine Skouras Moscofilero 2021. Drink it now. No need to decant. Trained as a winemaker in Dijon, George Skouras began his career in Kefalonia before moving to Nemea on the Peloponnese peninsula in 1986 and setting up his winery. He produces wine from indigenous varieties, particularly Aghiorghitiko, alone or blended with international varieties in a state-of-the-art winery outside Argos, inaugurated in 2004. He is considered a prominent figure in the renaissance of Greek wine, and his wines, including the famous Nemea Grande Cuvee and Megas Oinos, are widely appreciated both nationally and internationally. The 100% Moscofilero grapes come from the Mantinia vineyard at approximately 700m. They are left in contact with their skins for a short maceration of 4 hours, then fermented in stainless steel and shortly aged on their lees to provide the wine with extra depth and roundness. The wine shows a faint straw yellow color. On the nose, it offers an excellent aromatic intensity of white flowers, chamomile, yellow melon, mango, and then apricot, and peach with a slight citrus note. In the mouth, it is fresh and balanced with lively acidity and moderate alcohol. There is again a long aftertaste of fruit aromas. It is the perfect summer wine: excellent served chilled as an aperitif or with crab and shellfish.
