White Wine Palacio de Fefinanes 1583 Albarino de Fefinanes 2021. Serve well chilled. The legendary Palacio de Fefinanes became the first winery to bottle Albariño in 1928 under the visionary leadership of Juan Gil. The winery, which is housed in the cloisters of a stunning Renaissance palace built in 1621, is still run by Gil’s descendants to this day and continues to focus on producing the very best Albariños possible with the help of the 66 local grape-growing families who supply the fruit. The limited production 1583 Albariño de Fefinanes is an unusual style which was amongst the very first oak-matured Albariños to be produced in Spain. The name commemorates the birth of the very first Viscount of Fefiñanes who did much of the early construction work, giving the Palacio de Fefinanes its current appearance. This wine is made in a richer and fuller bodied style than the other Fefifanes wines thanks to the three months of ageing on the lees in French barrels. On the nose there are generous notes of honeydew melon, white peaches, toast and almond blossom, while the first sip reveals a creamy texture, mouthwatering freshness, and hints of pastries, roasted nuts, and ripe stone fruit which linger long on the tongue.

White Wine Palacio de Fefinanes Albarino de Fefinanes 2021. Serve well chilled. Palacio de Fefinanes occupies a special place in Spanish wine circles as the first winery to bottle an Albariño wine in 1928. Today the modern, custom-built winery occupies the ancient cloisters of the imposing 17th century palace and the grapes are carefully sourced from 66 local families who have been working with the estate for decades. Palacio de Fefinanes’ flagship wine is their Albariño de Fefinanes which was the very first example of the variety to be bottled in 1928. The bottle still bears the original label design which was created by the jeweller and master craftsman Enrique Mayer when the first bottles were released. To preserve the uniquely aromatic and fresh character of the Albariño the grapes are vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and left to settle over the winter. The result is a crisp, vibrant white wine which opens with enticing hints of lemon zest, green apple and honeysuckle. On the palate the wine has a pleasantly light touch with plenty of racy acidity, gentle stone fruit flavours and a long clean finish. Ideal to serve well chilled as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to grilled fish, fresh seafood, or a chilled gazpacho soup.

White Wine Pasetti Testarossa Trebbiano d’Abruzzo Superiore 2021. Founded in the early 1900s by Silvestro Pasetti in Francavilla on Italy’s Adriatic coast, the Pasetti estate initially focused on growing grapes which were then sold on to be vinified and bottled. Silvestro’s grandson, Franco, took the decision to start bottling his family’s own wines, and in more recent years the Pasettis have expanded their winery by purchasing top quality vineyards below the Gran Sasso massif in the Apennines. Their Testarossa wines are the flagship bottlings of the winery and are named after the ginger-haired women of the family who have played such a key role in the history of the Pasetti winery. This stunning white is crafted from Trebbiano d’Abruzzo and Pecorino grapes grown at 450 metres of altitude at the foot of Gran Sasso and the Monti della Laga mountains. Conditions here are ideal for producing excellent white wines thanks to the strong winds and cool nights which help preserve freshness and a concentrated flavour profile in the grapes. In the winery the must is fermented in oak barrels where it is matured for 12 months before bottling. This creates a rich, full-bodied white wine with a creamy texture and ample buttery, vanilla and tropical fruit flavours.
