White Wine Mildiani Tvishi 2020. No need to decant. Located in the fertile valley of the Alazani River, in the eastern Kakheti region of Georgia, the Mildiani winery was founded by the 4 Mildiani brothers in 1991. Since then, the company has grown a lot, receiving international awards and a lot of attention from critics and consumers. both in the local and international markets. Today the company covers 100 hectares of vineyards and includes several brands of wine, spirits, and souvenir wines. Tvishi Mildiani is a semi-sweet white wine produced with the indigenous Tsolikauri grapes, sourced in the Racha-Lechkhumi region. Tsolikauri is a white grape grown in western Georgia that gives medium-bodied wines with soft acidity and delicately sweet notes of yellow fruits and white flowers. The wine shows a straw color with light lemon nuances. The aromatic profile is rich and intense with sweet aromas of ripe white fruit (especially peaches, pears, and apricots) and wildflowers. On the palate, the wine is smooth and round with a delicious natural sweetness, an harmoniously balanced alcoholic warmth, and nice acidity. The fruit flavors return in the finish. Try it with shellfish, fresh cheeses, and fruit tarts.

White Wine Moss Wood Chardonnay 2020. Moss Wood are known throughout the Margaret River region for being one of the area’s early pioneering wineries with a range of elegant wines inspired by the stunning local terroir. Clare & Keith Mugford have skilfully led the winery through the past four decades, building a reputation for excellence and a cellar full of remarkable, long-lived wines which can hold their own against Australia’s finest. The estate is located in Wilyabrup in the northern part of Margaret River which enjoys a cool maritime climate and gravelly loam soils with some clay. These conditions help to preserve plenty of freshness and aromatics in the grapes, ensuring perfect poise and balance. This Chardonnay is crafted from estate-grown fruit which is carefully harvested by hand. The fermentation process is begun in stainless steel tanks and then continued at the halfway point in 50% new French oak barrels. The wine is then blended and returned to the barrels for a 12-14 month maturation period. This long ageing in oak helps to add a rich, creamy texture, smooth tannins and intense notes of vanilla, fresh cream, and toasty oak to the bright citrus, peach and honeysuckle notes from the Chardonnay grape itself. Robust and powerful, this full-bodied white is a great wine to keep in the cellar for another decade, although it can also be enjoyed now alongside roast chicken, rich pasta dishes or mature hard cheeses.

White Wine Movia Rebula 2020. The historic Movia estate was founded back in 1700 and has been run by the Kristančič family since 1820. Set in the Goriška Brda region in western Slovenian on the border with Italy, the winery has around 18 hectares of vineyards of which around half are located on the other side of the border. Here the warm Mediterranean climate with hot summer days and cooling sea breezes is ideal for producing premium wines from both local and international varieties. Rebula is the local name for the Ribolla Gialla grape which many oenologists believe actually originated in Slovenia where it has been grown since at least the 13th century. Movia farm their Rebula vines organically to produce the best fruit possible and the vines have an average age of 66 years which helps to produce low yields of very concentrated fruit. Movia harvest the grapes for this bottling as late as possible to ensure optimum ripeness and the fruit is always harvested by hand. The must is then fermented using wild yeasts in wooden barriques with 18 months of ageing on the lees. The result is a fantastically complex and full-bodied white wine with a rich, creamy texture and expansive tropical fruit, toasted almond and brioche notes. A great choice to serve with creamy chicken, fish or pasta dishes or to cellar for another six to eight years.
