White Wine Mildiani Qvevri Bouquet Rkatsiteli 2019. The four Mildiani brothers decided to pursue their passion for wine and viticulture, founding their family winery in the Kakheti region of eastern Georgia, in 1991. After the great success obtained with their Saperavi wine, awarded in various international competitions, the company has achieved great popularity both in Georgia and abroad. This splendid Orange Wine from the Mildiani winery is produced with Rkatsiteli grapes, an ancient indigenous white vine from the Republic of Georgia. Grown there for several millennia, today this variety is still Georgia’s most popular white wine grape along with the red Sapevari. The maceration and fermentation of the grapes in the traditional Qvevri give the wine its typical amber color and great concentration of aromas. The wine is strongly expressive of the qualities of the Rkatsiteli grape. The nose reveals a complex bouquet of dried herbs and flowers followed by elegant aromas of wood and spices. On the palate, the wine is fine and round, soft and rich in ripe tannins. The acidity is remarkable an, the wine shows an excellent balance and a persistent aftertaste. Like many Orange wines, the Mildiani Qvevri Bouquet Rkatsiteli makes an interesting aperitif and works greatly with lamb tagine and roasted vegetables, especially aubergines.

White Wine Polvanera Minutolo 2019. Located near the modest town of Gioia del Colle in south-east Puglia, Polvanera winery was founded by Filippo Cassano in 2003. Cassano’s project was a way to return to his family’s historic viticultural roots and he decided to name the venture after the polvanera” or black dust” which characterises the local soils. All of Cassano’s vineyards are farmed organically to produce the best fruit possible and the plots sit at an altitude of 300-450 metres which ensures his opulent, full-flavoured wines are balanced with plenty of freshness. Although Puglia is best known for its powerful red wines crafted from the local Primitivo grape, Cassano’s Minutolo shows off the potential of the region’s white wines. This crisp white is crafted from 100% Fiano vinified in stainless steel tanks to preserve the pure natural character of the grape and plenty of mouthwatering freshness. Delicate hints of bergamot, crisp citrus, peach and apricot define the nose while the palate is bright and clean with ripe stone fruit flavours accented with zesty grapefruit and chamomile notes. The light body and racy acidity make this a fantastic partner for seafood, sushi and most fish dishes, although it is equally at home served as a refreshing aperitif.

White Wine Nals Margreid Baron Salvadori Chardonnay Riserva 2019. No need to decant, but it is recommended to open it half an hour before serving. The Nals Margreid winery is a real institution in South Tyrol; a winery that has been able to combine tradition with innovation, respect for the environment with the pursuit of quality at every stage of the winemaking process. Each wine, including the Chardonnay Riserva “Baron Salvadori” expresses the terroir of this beautiful part of Italy, capable of giving unique peculiarities to the wines. This is a splendid example of white wine with an impressive structure. It perfectly summarizes the fruity and floral notes of the Chardonnay vine, with the softness resulting from aging for 12 months in oak tonneaux. The grapes come from Margreid, the historic production area of Nals, where the soils are rich in sand and limestone gravel with high humus content. Here the vineyards, located between 260 and 300 meters above sea level, give their best and allow the production of a wine with great structure and personality. The wine shows a brilliant straw yellow color. The nose offers the typical hints of exotic fruit, followed by sweet spices such as vanilla and notes of brioche. It is a full-bodied, elegant and structured wine with a vibrant acidity that makes it very harmonious. It is the ideal wine to combine with hearty appetizers, spiced fish dishes, or roasted poultry.
