White Wine Jermann Were Dreams 2019. Immediately charming on the nose, this rich Chardonnay opens with intense aromas of tropical fruit, sweet pastries and citrus. The first sip reveals a creamy texture, full body, and succulent pineapple, mango and grapefruit flavours that linger long on the tongue. This bold Chardonnay is an excellent option for pairing with creamy chicken dishes, mushroom risottos, or baked cheeses thanks to the powerful flavour profile. Jermann carefully source the wine for this sensational bottle from prime vineyards which are predominantly planted on sandstone. Following the harvest and vinification process the wine is transfered to small French oak barrels for at least 11 months to add extra complexity and the characteristic rich, buttery character that is so typical of oak aged Chardonnay. The unusual name of this wine is testament to the many name changes that this wine has undergone since it was first produced in 1987. The wine is dedicated to the U2 song entitled Where the streets have no name” and was originally named Where the Dreams have no end…” The winery leaves the interpretation of this quirky reference up to the drinker, inviting everyone who opens the bottle to reflect on their own dreams.

White Wine Duckhorn Decoy Chardonnay 2019. Drink now. Duckhorn Vineyards are primarily terroir-emphasized, tastefully accessible, and, at the same time, complex single vineyard wines. The award-winning wines with the friendly duck logo, which are known far beyond national borders, come from excellent locations in California’s Napa Valley. Duckhorn Vineyards is known for, among other things, fascinating New World Merlots. Wines from the Three Palms site, which is one of the best Merlot sites in North America, have won several awards. The winery also produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and a Bordeaux blend. The wine is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes that are barrel fermented and aged on the lees for 8 months to improve texture. The Decoy Chardonnay has a charming nose of ripe white peach, pear, and banana as well as green and yellow apple, white floral notes in the background, and a hint of spiciness coming from the wood aging. On the palate, the exotic fruit aromas continue, enhanced by light caramel, some vanilla, and a slightly more intense woody spiciness. The wine is rich, smooth and dense, with mature acidity which ensures drinking fullness and elegance. This is a modern take on the fat Chardonnay and a perfect accompaniment to lobster, fish, or chicken breast with sweet potato puree.

White Wine Duckhorn Napa Valley Chardonnay 2019. Duckhorn has been named one of the world’s top wineries by Wine & Spirits seven times, proving the Napa winery’s outstanding global reputation for crafting top quality wines. This achievement is thanks to years of experimentation with Bordeaux varietals in Napa and beyond ever since the first Duckhorn vintage in 1978. Although best known for their world-class Merlot, Duckhorn also produces a wide range of other top-rated bottlings like this sensational Napa Valley Chardonnay. Grapes for this wine are sourced from the estate’s coolest vineyards to preserve plenty of bright freshness and aromatics in the fruit. The grapes are carefully pressed and 90% of the must is fermented in French oak barrels with the remainder in stainless steel tanks. The young wine is then aged in these respective containers for 10 months before bottling. Pineapple, white peach and lime immediately burst out of the glass while the first sip reveals a silky smooth texture, well-rounded medium body and lingering stone fruit and tropical fruit flavours. The richness of the fruit and spicy and toasted character from the oak fermentation is carefully balanced by a bright streak of acidity and subtle minerality on the finish. This is a great example of premium Napa Valley Chardonnay that is ideal to enjoy now or to keep in the cellar for a few more years.
