White Wine Gaja Idda Etna Bianco 2020. No need to decant. Serve it chilled at 10-12°C. Born from a joint project of the Gaja and Graci families, the Idda winery specializes in the production of volcanic wines on the southwestern side of Etna. Its name is already a tribute to the volcano, in fact, it recalls the nickname that locals use to define Etna. Today the winery is spread over 20 hectares of vineyards, located between 600 and 800 above sea level, in the municipalities of Belpasso and Biancavilla. Idda Bianco comes from 100% Carricante grapes that come from vineyards located in the municipalities of Biancavilla, at an average altitude of 700-800 m above sea level, and of Belpasso, at an average altitude of 600-700 m. After fermentation of about three weeks, the wine rests for 12 months partly in oak barrels and partly in steel. The wine has a sweet and fragrant scent, with aromas of flowers, almonds and marzipan and hints of herbs and flint. On the palate, the Idda Bianco is fresh and mineral with a savory note, and a fresh acid vein. It is elegant and refreshing and pleasantly fruity. Pair it with seafood appetizers, sushi, shellfish and grilled fish.

White Wine Jordan Unoaked Chardonnay 2020. Today the Jordan family are recognised as some of Stellenbosch’s most important winemakers thanks to their visionary approach and commitment to working in harmony with nature. Set on a three-hundred year old farm, the winery was purchased in 1982 by Ted and Sheelagh Jordan who set about transforming it by planting varietals that suited the local terroir. The Jordan family took inspiration from the bright and vibrant Chardonnay wines of Chablis when crafting this wine and decided to allow the expressive inherent nature of the grape to shine through without the use of oak ageing. The grapes are sourced from the family’s south and east-facing vineyards where the cooler climate helps to preserve freshness and delicate aromatics in the finished wine. Following the harvest the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged on the lees for 4 months add extra complexity and structure. The result is a crisp, fresh Chardonnay that sings with lively aromas of white peaches, lemon zest, and apricot puree. The first sip reveals a racy acidity, smooth texture, and intense tropical and citrus fruit flavours which linger on the tongue. This delicious combination of rich, creamy texture and vibrant fruit character make this wine an ideal partner for dishes like fruits de mer, grilled fish, or leafy summer salads.

White Wine Gini Soave Classico 2020. Although this winery was only founded in 1980, the Gini family have had a presence in the Soave region since at least the 7th century. Today they have 58 hectares of land which includes prized vineyards in the La Frosca cru, with 80-100 year old vines planted on calcareous soils. Wherever possible the family seek to work in harmony with nature and minimise their environmental footprint. The vineyards are farmed organically with very low yields and they have recently built a brand-new cellar cut into the hillside where the temperature and humidity is naturally moderated by the rock walls. This is their crisp, easy-drinking Soave Classico which is sure to delight both Soave fans and those who are tasting the style for the first time. All of the grapes are harvested by hand from old Garganega vines and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. After vinification the wine is kept on its lees in stainless steel tanks for another 6 months. This enhances the naturally vibrant freshness of the variety, creating a light, crisp wine which is bursting with ripe tropical and stone fruit flavours. A fantastic Soave to enjoy as an aperitif or partner for salads, sushi, fresh seafood or even spicy Asian dishes.
