White Wine Domaine Charles Audoin Marsannay Au Champ Salomon Blanc 2020. The village of Marsannay in the Côte de Nuits is traditionally known for its excellent rosé wines, but in recent years local producers have earned a reputation for their fantastic value reds and whites. The Audoin family have been making wine here for five generations, although they only began bottling and selling their own wines in the 1970s thanks to Charles Audoin. Charles grew the property from 2.5 hectares of vines to 14 hectares before handing over the winemaking to his son, Cyril. This elegant single vineyard white offers exceptional value for money with the Champ Salomon cru expected to achieve Premier Cru status in the coming years.

White Wine Domaine Charles Audoin Marsannay Cuvee Charlie Blanc 2020. No need to decant but best to open it half an hour before service. Charles Audoin is widely regarded as the most renowned wine producer in the Marsannay appellation (as also claimed by critic Robert Parker). Located in the northernmost part of the Côte de Nuits, Marsannay is a lesser-known appellation where red, white, and rosé wines are produced. The northern position of the vineyards favors the production of fresh and sparkling white wines with an aromatic and mineral profile that are generally less popular, offering an excellent value for money. Produced from Chardonnay grapes grown on marly soils, the Cuvée Charlie takes its name from the daughter of Cyril, son of Charles and currently manager of the company, born in 2016. The wine ages for 12 months in half oak barrels. This full-bodied and elegant white shows intense buttery scents to the nose, mixed with fresh fruity notes of citrus and stone fruit and subtle woody and vanilla hints. In the mouth, the wine is wide and round and shows slight fatness that gives a good consistency and balances the mineral and buttery notes. The finish is long and fresh. The wine is perfect with seafood and grilled fish, but it also goes well with chicken and turkey.

White Wine Domaine Masse Givry Clos de la Brulee Blanc 2020. No need to decant. Located in Barizey, on the CĂ´te Chalonnaise, the Domaine Masse is led by Fabrice Masse who took over from his father in 2000. Respect for his father’s work has always remained a priority, as he was the one who passed onto Fabrice the passion for wine and the vine and the family winemaking knowledge. The vines are cultivated traditionally. The grapes are manually selected and harvested. The whites wines are softly pressed, followed by regulated fermentation in stainless steel vats and at the end of the fermentation, they are placed in barrique. The reds are destemmed, cold macerated for 5 days then fermented for 15 days. After fermentation, the wines are aged for 1 year in oak barrels with around 30% new barrels. This Givry shows a golden yellow color with green reflections, and a fine aromatic profile of exotic fruits and white flowers, enhanced by discreet woody notes. On the palate, this white wine is a powerful and round wine with a nice freshness and liveliness. The finish is marked by the passage in the cask. The wine generally goes well with bluefish, salmon, seafood, or cheeses with a sweet note.
