White Wine Ca’ Lojera Lugana Riserva del Lupo 2017. The Ca ‘Lojera winery is an important reference point for the Lugana appellation. It was founded in Sirmione in the early nineties by Ambra and Franco Tiraboschi, who decided to transform what was at the time a fruit and vegetable company into a specialized winery. The vineyard of the Ca ‘Lojera winery extends for about 20 hectares. The Turbiana vines are located close to Lake Garda on hard clayey soils, while the other varieties, such as Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon are on the hills of Ponti sul Mincio. The Lugana Riserva Del Lupo is made with grapes from the typical vine of the area, Trebbiano di Lugana or Turbiana, which from a genetic point of view is identical to Trebbiano di Soave and Verdicchio delle Marche. The vines are grown on soils characterized by precious white clays. The grapes are harvested in a slightly overripe phase and the must is fermented in steel tanks. The wine ages for 24 months in steel tanks followed by 6 months in the bottle. The wine is intense and rich with straw yellow color and bright golden reflections. The bouquet recalls aromas of Mediterranean herbs, ripe yellow and tropical fruit, citrus notes and delicate floral nuances. In the mouth, it is elegant, with complex and very persistent aromas, which anticipate a fresh and savory finish. Have it with lobster or sushi.

White Wine Cannonball Eleven Chardonnay 2017. The enigmatic Cannonball label takes its name from the cannonball” position often adopted by children jumping in the water to make the biggest splash possible. This personified the fun and approachable nature of these wines which combine big, succulent flavours with an elegant flavour profile which pairs well with a variety of dishes and social occasions. The Cannonball Eleven Chardonnay is a sophisticated and refined white made in strictly limited quantities to maintain exceptional quality levels. The fruit is sourced from selected vineyard parcels in the Sonoma Coast region. Here the proximity to the Pacific Ocean helps to preserve plenty of freshness and aromatics in the wine while the sunny summer days ensure the fruit achieves optimal ripeness. Once in the winery the grape must is fermented and then transferred to French oak barrels and stainless steel tanks for 8 months of maturation. The result is a rich yet balanced Chardonnay with hints of toast, oak, honeycombe and buttery vanilla as well as plenty of bright apple, lemon and ripe stone fruit which linger on the tongue. A great match for creamy fish or chicken dishes, hard cheeses, pasta or pizza, and summery salads.

White Wine Cline Chardonnay 2017. This elegant cool climate California Chardonnay is made from estate fruit grown on four of Cline’s Sonoma Coast vineyards. Three of these vineyards are located in the Petaluma Gap, which funnels cool air from the Pacific Ocean through a gap in the Sonoma mountain range. This gives the region a very long growing season, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and retaining plenty of freshness and aromatics. The fourth vineyard is located in Los Carneros close to San Pablo Bay which is renowned for its graceful Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines. To maintain quality the grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in 40% barrels and 60% stainless steel fermenters which are kept at a low temperature. The young wine is then kept on the lees for 4 months followed by another 4 months in French oak barrels. Bursting with luscious mango, papaya, honeydew melon and ripe peaches, this is a bright, fruit-forward wine seasoned with hints of toasty oak and vanilla on the long finish. A great partner for vegetarian dishes, roasted chicken, leafy salads, or a generous platter of cheeses. The Cline family who make this exquisite Chardonnay are a truly pioneering family, having introduced a wide range of sustainable and natural solutions including a 2000-strong herd of sheep and goats who remove weeds from the vineyards. The 350-acre farm is a Certified Calfornia Sustainable Vineyard and Winery, and also has enough solar panels to power the whole winery.
